Punctuation dancing
When we did the punctuation dancing we had to do a movement for every bit of punctuation was included in the sentance from the script we had to say out loud. me and willa were given cheung's sentance that sys "no. she wants her money. the money my mother borrowed to get us over here. my mother died in the lorry we were in on our way over here" cheung seems like a very blunt charater by what i've read and expressed through punctiation dancing. he uses a lot of full stops and likes to get to the point. he doesn't like to go into detail he just tells it like it is. some of it may be because of the language barrier.
Review on yesterday's rehearsal
Yesterday's rehearsal went really well because the play started to come together and make much more sense, than the other weeks which were more confusing.
We worked on blocking and and how we would perform the piece and set it out, i think the part when we have to move the chairs onto the scene is good because we can set up chairs instead of all the studants becoming furniture which wasn't very comfortable. Everyone did really well on their lines in that rehearsal but everybody still needs a bit of practice. i found out which lines i will be saying for my split part which has made learning lines easier.
Warm up excercise/character conversations
The warm up excercise we did in theatre yesterday was really fun because we got to introduce our characters to each other and see how they would communicate which was really interesting. some characters got on really well with each other whilst other characters didn't get on as well, with my charatcer she got on much better with the adults than the children. She gets on well with most people because she can understand their languages but the refugee kids seem least likely to want to talk to her,as if she was invading their privacy and asking too many questions.
Peer evaluation
When we were asked to write about who's performanced we thought was good during rehersal i chose Ell because I think she worked really as her character and memorized her lines. she never forgot her words and was great at getting into her character.

character thoughts about self-help group
I was so shocked when I found out about the stabbing, I knew this boy, and I had spoken to him before and he seemed if not a little on edge;perfectly fine. I was looking through some foreign papers for my job when I came across the story in a London newspaper. At first I didn't know how to react because this was just a young boy. Normally I would of dismissed this and thought "oh typical London youth stabbing someone again" if I hadn't known the boy, but I did.
It effects you so much differently when you actually know the person. Everyone in the meeting today cared about Kojo in one way or another and I know I only spoke to him for a short period of time but I feel for him and what he's going through. It was such a life changing experience actually hearing his view of the story. The meeting really helped me to understand how the kids I translate for really feel.

Character
My character the translator doesn't really say anything about herself but this could be because she's reserved person and likes to get on with her job without any sort of information about herself being told.
My character doesn't say much about other people's character either but it's likely she doesn't want to get involved with other people's life or maybe she could just be quite rude and just plain not interested.
Kojo say's in scene 9, page 22 "they've given her glasses...to make her look clever...the clever one" this suggests something about her character. it suggests she very intelligent and proffesional.
